A note from your authors: We love us some tasty snacks, some bougie cocktails, super vibey bars we can dress up or down in to feel super cute, and creating fun times with girlfriends, so here’s our take as late twenty-thirty-something Charleston locals on some of our favorite live music spots that are sure to be a crowd-pleaser for your girls getaway weekend in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Windjammer On Isle Of Palms (IOP) For Music

I (Shelby) saw Mt. Joy at the Windjammer last Summer. It was so awesome!

Hannah Hunter:

If you’re way over on Isle of Palms - also known by the locals as IOP (you say the letters I-O-P), you can always go to the Windjammer. They have oyster roast on Saturdays through the oyster season (typically months with the letter “R” in them.) You can stay there all day with endless amounts of buckets of oysters, and there’s almost always live music there.

PRO TIP:

Reagan Kerr: The Windjammer is an outdoor stage in sand. So you're standing in the sand. Don't wear heels.

Shelby Ring: Yeah. Don't wear heels. I made that mistake with boots there before.

Seabreeze Marina On The Downtown Peninsula!

There's also a new waterfront spot downtown in the peninsula area— Seabreeze Marina and their Island Cabana Bar. Seabreeze Marina is new to like restaurant and the drink scene. It's always been a marina for like members who have their boats there, but they just open a restaurant and a bar, and they've got live music most nights of the week.

It's a hidden spot off of Morrison Street downtown— So East Bay extension. It's delicious food. It's run by the same people who own many restaurants in downtown Charleston and drinks. And so you're literally on the water enjoying drinks. And there aren't that many places to be physically on the water on the peninsula.

There’s Always Some Form Of Live Music Going On At Shem Creek Across The Bridge In Mount Pleasant, SC

You can turn hanging at Saltwater Cowboys, Red’s Ice House, Tavern and Table, Waters Edge @ Shem Creek Inn— from an all-day thing into a night thing, too.

Saltwater Cowboy’s Trash Can Nachos For The Win!

Saltwater Cowboys on Shem Creek is awesome if you want something a little more casual. You've got people who are straight off the boat from their beach day. So you could be super casual, enjoy water views of Shem Creek and the harbor and Crab Bank island, the shrimp boats lining Shem Creek. You're bound to see some dolphins, some beer, order some Trash Can Nachos…I love me some Saltwater Cowboys. And the big pretzel…the Pretzel presentation. It’s tasty!

Reds Ice House on SHem Creek in Mount Pleasant Charleston SC For Live Music

Red’s Ice House on Shem Creek always has something going on during the weekend!

Hannah Hunter:

And you can turn hanging at Saltwater Cowboys, Red’s Ice House, Tavern and Table, Waters Edge @ Shem Creek Inn— all of those little spots from an all-day thing into a night thing, too.

Tavern and Table on Shem Creek (beside Reds and Saltwater Cowboys, Across From Shem Creek Inn) is a great dinner spot before bopping to some live music at Red’s next door!

Tavern and Table on Shem Creek (beside Reds and Saltwater Cowboys, Across From Shem Creek Inn) is a great dinner spot before bopping to some live music at Red’s next door!

There's always some form of live entertainment - a band or DJ at Saltwater Cowboys or Red’s Ice House (locals just call it Red’s BTW.) So Shem Creek can definitely be its own outing for the evening. It has a more southern casual vibe to it. So not so dressed up bougie for downtown energy (I think of like… cute dress and heels or a cute skirt set), but more a touch of southern casual to me — denim and booties style.

Bangkok Karaoke Lounge: Sing Your Heart Out & Rage Downtown Charleston

Shelby Ring:

And don’t forget Bangkok Karaoke lounge. Make your own music, be your own obnoxious entertainment and sign up to sing Spice Girls, Dirks Bentley, whatever you fancy at Bangkok Lounge on King Street.

Henry’s On The Market, Downtown Charleston For A Variety Of Live Music (On Every Floor!)

Hannah Hunter:

I personally love going to Henry's on the market, especially if you want to veer off of King Street. Each of their different floors has kind of a different feel to it. Like downstairs is their restaurant. Sometimes there's a band down there. Then you go up one space like a trumpet player, sax player, or keys. And then another is a live band, and it's like country or something wild…And then there's the rooftop, which is quiet. And you just get to drink and look at the city. So you get everything there.

Sometimes there are country dancing nights there; you just have to check out their website or social and see if there’s anything particular on their schedule.
